IOM Norway and Rana Municipality signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
March the 3rd we marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Rana Municipality and IOM. Rana Municipality will receive 1500 specialised labour migrants and their families in the coming years as part of The Green Shift and establishment of FREYR's gigafactories. IOM Norway will partner and share their expertise in integration and labour protection.
Our Chief of Mission Fatou Ndiaye alongside Mayor Geir Waage signed the MoU at Oslo's beautiful Deichman Library Bjorvika - a first of it's kind agreement between a Norwegian municipality and IOM.
Due to the set of skills required a large portion of the future employees and partners will be from outside of Norway. Rana Municipality and IOM has agreed to cooperate on the integration of the labor migrants and their family members as well as to support with capacity building of municipal staff in Rana.
IOM Norway look forward to working in partnership with Rana Municipality and will provide relevant support to both the local government, the local industry and to the community.
