Since 2002, IOM Norway has been assisting migrants to return home from Norway through the Voluntary Assisted Return Programme. In that time, we have assisted more than 18,800 migrants in their decision to return home and have heard countless stories that we think are important to share with others. Whether you are working with migrants or considering returning yourself, you may be able to relate to the individuals you will meet within these stories.

Read about Afsoon’s elopement and escape to Norway to be able to live in peace with his new wife. Learn about Mehri’s journey from Iran to Norway and back, as she awaits family reunification with her husband in Norway. Follow Hamid as he searches for a better life for his daughter in Norway and ultimately finds his place among his family back in Iraq. Get to know political prisoner Tsehay who lived in exile for eight years in Norway until the current political situation allowed her to return to her beloved Ethiopia.

Get to know the individuals who chose to return home with IOM from Norway and their unique stories at norway.iom.int/stories.

We thank each person who chose to share their personal story with us at IOM, and with you.
